Alex Rodriguez's struggles with runners in scoring position
have been well-documented, but it has been his decision-making
that has cost the Yankees in the past two weeks.
Every baseball writer determines their own definition of
"most valuable" (which is why it’s stupid to argue
about MVP races), but there's no reason why Youkilis couldn’t win it outright. He and A-Rod are the only three hitters in the A.L. who rank in the top 10 in average, on-base percentage and slugging.

Check out my analysis of the struggling Jason
Giambi and why he shouldn't be playing full time.
TORONTO -- During the Yankees' June trip to
Pittsburgh, Alex Rodriguez presented 18-year-old cancer patient John Challis
with a baseball bat. The Yankees third baseman received something infinitely more meaningful in exchange. Valiantly battling ...
Yankees lose to Blue Jays 2-1 What happened
to inserting youth into this lineup? This is the
same crap lineup that couldn’t score runs all year. Then you have Johhny Damon who made two errors and one that cost them the game. He throws like a sissy as well. Please Joe, forget contracts, insert Christian(call him back up) and Gardner into the lineup and watch them wreak havoc on the ...
TORONTO -- As the dates continue to fall
off the calendar, Alex Rodriguez is among those who
believe the Yankees need to begin pushing the envelope a little more, taking chances to counteract the fact that their postseason odds are dwindling. ...
Today’s edition of the Sports Business Journal highlights
their pick for the Top 20 Most Influential Sports
Agents, with Tom Condon co-head of Football for CAA Sports landing in at #1 ( see The Biz of Football for more details ). On the baseball side of the ledger, it seems that the Alex Rodriguez debacle during Game 4 of last year’s World Series doesn’t seem to have hasn't impacted Scott ...
August 19, 2008 -- HIS divorce woes don't
seem to be keeping Alex Rodriguez from playing the
field. The Yankee star was spotted in two cities squiring two different cuties last week - including one who's a younger version of his estranged wife, ...
John Paciorek, who played in the 60's, gives
the 411 on how to get Mark Teixeira out.
Former major leaguer John Paciorek argues that A-Rod
can be even better. It's all about the foot.
Last year, I wrote an article for The
Hardball Times about a formula that attempts to predict
who will win the MVP award. Basically, the three more important things are the Triple Crown stats, and you get some bonus points for RBIs if your team makes ...
John Challis inspired people with his sheer courage,
will, and determination. People of all ages looked at
him as a role model. Just 18 years of age, he knew he was dying of liver cancer, but that didn't stop him from going after his goals and dreams. This afternoon his family is in mourning as Challis ' body finally gave out from the cancer that had ravaged him. Challis was a recent ...
Really sad news just in: John Challis, the
18-year-old from Freedom youngster whose two-year battle with cancer
became a national story this year, died today . Over the next few months, John watched a Penguins playoff game with Mario Lemieux, was ...
The Yankees, as they often do after a
day off, are having an early optional workout. In
attendance: Johnny Damon, Alex Rodriguez, Brett Gardner, Cody Ransom, Andy Pettitte (who is taking grounders at shortstop), Derek Jeter, Robinson Cano, Jose ...
Chicago Cubs fans are legendary for loving their
team no matter what the scoreboard says, or how
many consecutive days the home team trails the division leader. Kids who can’t get tickets wait for home run balls on Sheffield Avenue. And regardless of how many beers the bleacher bums consume, no one forgets the words to “Take Me Out to the Ball Game.” Cubs fans are some of the most loyal in ...
THE divorce rate in sports is getting higher
and uglier, and we are not talking Alex Rodriguez
and Cynthia. Happily ever after has become tougher to find. In the last year, Joe Torre, Shaquille O'Neal, Manny Ramirez and Brett Favre not only left...
From The Big Lead 's interview with Jon
Heyman: Right now, who is the most overrated player
in baseball? At this moment, I have to say Robinson Cano, who is a great but still doesn’t get it; he should be following the lead of Derek Jeter and Alex Rodriguez, but instead he hangs out with some very wrong people and doesn’t always hustle. First of all I'm kinda surprised he said Cano, yes, ...
