The Chicago Bears will start Kyle Orton at
quarterback this season and his first test as the
main man comes in Thursday’s preseason game against the San Francisco 49ers. Orton won the job over Rex Grossman, although neither player was overwhelming in their play this preseason. Orton is 12-6 as a starting quarterback for the Bears in his three seasons.
It was announced today, that Kyle Orton will
be the Chicago Bears opening day starter, as he
beat out Rex Grossman, in a QB competition which lasted from training camp to last week in Seattle. Apparently he beat out Rex Grossman, who many think played terrible last week, played behind a terrible offensive line. No one can be good behind that offensive line, they got no help this ...

In the past hour there have been no
less than three emails with "The Neckbeard Returns!" as
the subject line. This is either a bold move or an absolutely desperate one, but it's true: Kyle Orton is the starting quarterback for the 2008 Chicago Bears' ...
The Bears yesterday named Kyle Orton their Week
1 starter . He got the nod over Rex
Grossman. In may be the only time someone from Purdue has trumped someone from Florida in an athletic endeavor. Actual email from a reader: As a Purdue fan, this ...
Why does everyone bother asking the question, “What
makes the perfect NFL Quarterback?,” when most of us
root for a team with an incredibly shitty one? Thus, we decided to ask a more pertinent question, “What makes the Ultimate ...

day quarterback -- beating Rex Grossman in a competition
that lasted through training camp and two preseason games.
Brad Biggs reports the quarterback derby is over
as the Bears have named Kyle Orton their starting
quarterback for the regular season. Rex Grossman officially is the back-up at least for now. Orton outplayed Grossman on Saturday in an overtime loss ...

The Chicago Bears have put to rest any
quarterback controversy that might’ve existed for them by naming
Kyle Orton the starter for 2008. The Bears say the decision was made based on Orton’s performance going back to last year, but come ...
Now that we have a starter the internet
is a safer place to be. Most journalists and
critics agree the Bears made the correct call . He is the right quarterback for this Bears team because they can't afford a passer who will lose the game. ...
The Bears' quarterback escaped Chicago, escaped the heckling
of talk radio, escaped the criticism he so often
heard from so many quarters. But if you think his three-week getaway to Tampa in July was all about rest and relaxation, you might not understand how serious Grossman has approached this competition with Kyle Orton.
If anyone had the pleasure of watching the
Seahawks first defense obliterate the Bears' pathetic offensive line
Saturday night, you'll know why I put win in quotes in the title of this piece. The Vikings and Packers pass rush units have to be licking ...
It was not that long ago when Lovie
Smith was mocked for his loyalty to Rex Grossman.
"Rex is our quarterback" became the unofficial slogan summing up the coach's all but unconditional support of a player whose faults Smith went out of his way to ...
Some of Lovie Smith's postgame comments late Saturday
night about the quarterback competition may be open to
interpretation. Others seemed to speak volumes. Smith would not commit to a starter for Thursday night's third preseason game against the San ...
Madden '09 hit store shelves today, and the
best part is we don't even have to wait
for the season to begin for the annual Madden Curse to come into effect. In a beautiful twist of irony, this year it is the game itself that's cursed rather than the player depicted on the cover as Brett Favre went from retired icon to member of the Jets. Of course, there is still ample opportunity for Brett ...
Preseason football – where the score means nothing,
but the injuries could last a lifetime. Saturday’s fake
game No. 2 for the Seahawks will match them up against a Bears team trying to find some traction on offense. Bears fans have been treated to the crap show that is Kyle Orton vs. Rex Grossman and are clamoring to see more of undrafted rookie Caleb Hanie.
2008 Season Outlook A lot of people bought
into Grossman as a borderline fantasy starter last year.
A lot of people were wrong. Sexy Rexy followed up his 23 scores and 20 picks from '06 with four and seven, respectively, and solidified a reputation ...
Who do you think will be the Chicago
Bears starting QB at the start of the 2008
season? I think both QB's know the system very well. Lets look at Kyle Orton's stats first. Kyle Orton's Football Career: Kyle Orton was predicted as a first round pick in 2005, but fell to the Bears in the fourth round. Orton fell in the draft because of injuries. Orton stands at 6'4" and weighs ...
