A team spokesman said the injury was not a pre-existing condition but a new problem that occurred in the first hour of the team's second practice of training camp, their first in pads. [link]

The Bears announced on Thursday night that rookie tackle Chris Williams, the fourteenth overall pick in the draft, has undergone surgery to repair a herniated disc in his back.
