Jeff Kent is Still a Bitter Old Man
Published 8/17/2008 by Patrick Imig at The Big Lead
... Since moving to the third place in the lineup in front of Manny Ramirez, Jeff Kent’s batting average has increased 20 points over a ten game span. Makes you think there is a correlation. Vin Scully has said as much during Dodgers broadcasts and Kent takes offense to such insidious claims. ...
Jeff Kent Doesn't Like Anybody, Including Dodgers' Legendary Announcer Vin Scully
Published 8/18/2008 by Awful Announcing- (noreply@blogger.com) at Awful Announcing
I don't know how you could hate someone who gave us one of the most memorable calls in Baseball history, but apparently Jeff Kent's ire knows no bounds. In an interview with LA Times' TJ Simers, Kent decided to rail on Vin Scully and the rest of Sports Media. Via SbB.... "Vin Scully talks too much," Kent said. Now that's funny, the guy who normally doesn't say much, this time saying way too much. "You can't say that," I told Kent, and he said he had just spoken to 200 women (at a Dodgers function) "and I told them the same ...

Jeff Kent and Vin Scully Are Having a Cane Duel Over ManRam in Los Angeles

... and asking Simers to explain how he managed to hit .300 for a full season without Manny. Here's the thing: Kent is a Hall of Famer, Scully is a frigging legend and T.J. Simers is an instigator, so no one's going to be happy. Besides, was anyone pitching around a 40 year old Jeff Kent in the first place? I think not. So it's not like everyone's suddenly grooving fastballs his way just because Manny is hitting in front of him. TFJs: AA/SbB Permalink | Email this | ...

Jeff Kent opens mouth, proves again why people don't like him

... aren't the most inflammatory comments in history — or anywhere close, actually — but read the entire Simers column for a further look at why the perpetually grumpy Kent is viewed with such indifference. Then again, when you call the greatest baseball announcer alive today just "some guy" and question his preparation for games, I'm sure you're way past the point of caring how people see you in the first place. A big BLS head nod to SBB for the tip.
Hurdle Really Hates Dodgers, Kent Unimpressed
Published 9/3/2008 by ryan at SPORTSbyBROOKS
Clint Hurdle is all that is wrong with this country. The Rockies manager told the DENVER POST that he abhors the Dodgers, which is as un-American as hating the Dallas Cowboys, or Peter King speaking ill of Brett Favre . Clint Hurdle I thought that despising the Los Angeles baseball team that actually plays in LA was a right reserved for Jeff Kent (and, eventually, Manny Ramirez , because that’s his shtick), but apparently anybody can do it. Via the POST :“I just hate the Dodgers. I love to see them lose,” Hurdle said. “It’s nothing personal with anyone there. You know how some people love the Yankees? I choose to hate ...
Vin Scully to return in 2009
Published 9/8/2008 by Tony Baldwin at Inside The Ballpark - Baseball Humor Blog
Good news, actually great news, for fans of the Los Angeles Dodgers, and all baseball fans. Long time play-by-play broadcaster Vin Scully told the Los Angeles Times that he will be back next season. Scully said he received the blessing of his wife, Sandy, in order to return for his 60th season behind the ...
LA Rejoices As Scully Says He’ll Be Back In 2009
Published 9/8/2008 by The Duke at SPORTSbyBROOKS
If you’re a Dodger fan, things are looking up. Manny Ramirez is still hitting the cover off the ball and hasn’t asked for a trade yet. The team just completed a three-game sweep of the flailing Arizona Diamondbacks to surge into first-place in the (lousy) NL West. And now this news from the LA TIMES: legendary announcer Vin Scully says that he’ll be back next year for his 60th season of Dodger broadcasts . Vin Scully I guess no one consulted Jeff Kent about the Dodgers’ broadcasting plans , although with the way things are going it’s pretty unlikely that Kent’s going to be around next season to have to listen to Scully drone on ...
