Preseason BlogPoll Ranks Georgia No. 1
Published 8/20/2008 by T Kyle King at Dawg Sports
The eagerly-awaited preseason BlogPoll is out and I am pleased to report that it’s not just jaded overworked reporters and crusty coaches with tunnel vision who have Georgia ranked No. 1 . . . attractive, socially well-adjusted college football bloggers who own their own homes, regularly receive physical shows of affection from the opposite sex, and author postings while fully clothed following the execution of a thorough hygiene regimen agree! The top-ranked Bulldogs received 24 of 78 first-place votes, ahead of No. 2 Ohio State (17), No. 3 Southern California (15), No. 5 Florida (14), No. 4 Oklahoma (6), and No. 7 ...

BLOGPOLL, WEEK NEGATIVE ONE
Published 8/20/2008 by Orson Swindle at EDSBS

BlogPoll Top 25 Results: PreseasonGeorgia Is No. 1 Among Bloggers

Only the most credible and authentic "formal" college football poll in the country! (And I say that not just because I am a voting member.) The composite group is listed here. Individual ballots can be found here. Georgia is the No. 1, but like the AP and Coaches, it is a mere plurality.

Blogpoll - 2008 Preseason Poll Released
Published 8/20/2008 by corn blight at Corn Nation
The first blogpoll of 2008 has been released. Votes by blogger, and votes by team are available.  The top five teams are as below: 1 Georgia (24)   2 Ohio State (17)   3 Southern Cal (15)    4 Oklahoma (6)    5 Florida (14) Note how few first place votes Oklahoma received. Apparently people have more respect for Ohio State getting destroyed in two straight title games than they do in Oklahoma's BCS implosions. We'll ...

Utes 25th in preseason BlogPoll
Published 8/20/2008 by JazzyUte at Block U
... The first BlogPoll of the season has been released and Utah comes in at 25th. Which provides the first ranking for Utah this season, albeit not nearly as known or used as the Coaches and Media poll. Regardless, it's a good place to start for a program that has been on the outside looking in since Urban Meyer bolted for Florida so many years ago (doesn't it feel like forever?).  ...

Urban Meyer: Defensive tackle "the problem" so far
Published 8/20/2008 by Matt Hinton at Dr. Saturday
... it's the problem: Defensive tackle remains unsettled and a major concern. "It's a problem, it's still the problem," UF coach Urban Meyer said. "We see some guys doing some good things, and we're also going to play some three-down (players on the line). But that's one issue that's yet to be resolved. However, there are some guys close." An awful lot of smart people –– coaches, writers, bloggers, newspaper types -- have endorsed the Gators for mythical championship frontrunner ...

... The first blogpoll of the season is up. Purdue is not ranked in the top 25, which isn’t a surprise. Some bloggers were kind enough to throw us a few votes, however. I have the feeling that if we start 2-0 with a win over a ranked Oregon team we can crack the top 25 easily. My final official ballot can be found ...

From here forward, the only thing Killebrew should be allowed to block are arteries, and I hear he's quite good in that regard. Everyone's watching, Mack, and your legacy may well depend on getting this right. Things to read: I had a lot I wanted to blather about above, so we'll just wrap this thing with a few links: * The Blog Poll's preseason poll is out. BlogPoll Released, Texas Tech #12
Published 8/21/2008 by Seth C at Double-T Nation
The initial BlogPoll was released yesterday (bloggers and by team) and Texas Tech was #12. I think I like the standard deviation part the best, which for Texas Tech was 4.3 and that seems about right, I could see a finish anywhere between #16 if things go poorly and #6 if things go really well. That seems about right.  As mentioned everywhere, preseason polls are educated guesses, at best, but it's still fun and gives us something to debate about as the season inches closer.

... in my pre-season blogpoll.  With still another week before the first games and with a number of teams facing injury issues and positional issues its really hard to give each team its due. When I filled my ballot out last week I put USC at #4 because of the questions on the O line and the uncertainty of the injury to Mark Sanchez. This really a thumbnail sketch and there is no question that things will definitely shake up after the first week of the season. You can see the full poll results here. Thanks to Doug at Hey Jenny Slater for getting up the initial BlogPoll Roundtable. 1. Britain, ...

OK, this is a little late, and due to that not in this years initial Blogpoll, but that's the way that is goes. For the season, I'll be posting that weeks poll on late Sunday/early Monday, to get thoughts and make any chances before the Wednesday morning deadline. At this point, this is a purely speculative power poll. It will start to firm up after the first week or so. After the first 7 or so, it's mostly my gut feelings on these teams. Thus, this thing is probably waaay off. For more info on the BlogPoll in general, check after the jump. ...
