Catfight Week
Published 7/23/2008 by noreply@blogger.com (Sammy Vegas) at Double Extra Point
Two colossal catfights in one week. Take your pick. Which one is more staged? Danica Patrick vs. Milka Duno OR L.A. Sparks vs. Detroit Shock The WNBA needs to go away in a bad way. The last thing I need to see is another fight in Detroit. I'll take the Danica Patrick vs. Milka Duno fight anyday of the week. First of all, Milka Duno is smoking hot. Secondly, notice how Milka let's her hair down before she threw her towel at Danica - sexy. Thirdly, you have to love when women throw f-bombs at each other. Both have to be staged for ratings, but I tihnk the marketing execs at the IndyCar series just got a raise. By the way, (in case you didn't know like I didn't know) ...

Can't say that I have seen this happen before. Nonetheless it is strange/interesting to see. I have to say though, the knee jerk reaction from the announcer is a bit excessive.
Around The Way

As Matt Dery told us a couple of days ago, the Pistons are giving Will Bynum a contract. It's a two year deal with the second year as a team option. Matt Watson of DBB's liked what he saw of Bynum in the Summer League, but DBB reader living in Europe isn't that convinced. Speaking of Matt, he had a chance to catch up with Amir Johnson for Fanhouse recently in Vegas. I promised myself I would try to support our sister team The Shock this season, but sadly still haven't made it to a game. I am sorry that this is the first thing I am reporting on the Shock this season. I am sure you all know what ...
WNBA lays the smackdown in Detroit

I am shocked to see a brawl between professional basketball athletes in Detroit. Well, Candace Parker and Lisa Leslie did their best Ron Artest imitation last night at the Palace of Auburn Hills. I say put the girls in American Gladiator uniforms and instead of foul shots, have the girls compete in a Gladiator competition for 2 points. You want to spice up the WNBA? More brawls!
About that WNBA brawl …
Published 7/23/2008 by Michael Rand at Randball
We believe the Official RandBall Anchorman Quote (”Boy, that escalated quickly… I mean, that got out of hand fast!”) applies to the brawl last night between the L.A. Sparks and Detroit Sparks Shock. Sad but true: this is the most attention the WNBA has received in a while, and is far greater evidence that they are ready to join their male counterparts than any in-game dunking. (We’re half-joking). In a major upset, Bill Laimbeer and Rick Mahorn were involved. Cheryl Ford, sadly enough, had to be wheeled off the court in a Pierce-mobile. Raptors notebook: Parker defends sister's part in WNBA fracas
Published 7/31/2008 by Eric Koreen at Posted Sports : Basketball
Toronto Raptors guard Anthony Parker has heard people doubt his sister. He has heard basketball followers criticize Candace Parker's role in a fracas that occurred July 22nd, when Parker's Los Angeles Sparks were taking on the Detroit Shock in a WNBA game in Auburn Hills, Mich. He understands those criticisms, but he disagrees with them."I think, for one thing, if most people put themselves in that situation, they might react the same way," the Toronto Raptors guard said Thursday. "A lot of talk was saying that she took the bait or whatever, and I don’t see it like that. I think taking the bait is if somebody elbows you or yells at you, and ...
