Nike's Olympic Courage Ad

Obviously with the mass amount of ads that Nike produces not all are going to be winners but I think they've got another hit with this one. This is the "Courage" ad you'll be seeing all throughout the Olympics.... I'm a sucker for good music, a ton of athletes and random flowers blooming, so they had me at the jump. I'm curious if this type of ad is wearing on people or if you're enjoying them as much as me. In the past year we've had the "My Better" one, the Jackson/Merriman "Leave Nothing" one, and the Guy Ritchie "Next Level" one. Keep it coming Nike.

Amputee Sprinter Fails to Qualify for Beijing
Published 7/18/2008 at FanHouse
Filed under: Africa, BeijingThe Olympic dreams of double-amputee sprinter Oscar Pistorius were put on hold after he failed to make the South African roster for the 1600 meter relay. While Pistorius will not be competing against the world's best in Beijing in August, he does plan on competing in the Paralympic Games held there in September. Oscar admits that a long legal battle which he was fighting for the right to compete against able-bodied athletes took much of his focus away from training for the games. But failing to make the South African team for Beijing hasn't crushed Pistorius' Olympic dreams completely as he ...

Wicked Awesome Nike Commercial

Nike has been known to produce some pretty cool commercials. Here’s a new one to help celebrate 20 years of “JUST DO IT“. I find it pretty cool especially since it is accompanied by the Killers. Enjoy.
Nike Needs Better Fact Checkers

Nike’s latest campaign provides various snippets of memorable sporting moments encapsulated in a one minute spot set to The Killers All These Things That I’ve Done. A great choice in music, as the song brings out the emotive aspect of the athletic feats. It’s hard to really appreciate all the gutsy acts portrayed in the ad until you head over to nike.com/courage, where you can get a little back story on the athletes showcased. Whether the back story on each athlete is entirely accurate, that’s a different story. I haven’t bothered to read ALL the tidbits of info (42 in total), ...

Say what you will about Nike, for example, their shoes fall apart and are overpriced, but their ads are pretty spectacular. The most-talked-about ad shows images of various athletes while the words "I've got soul but I'm not a soldier!" are repeated. For those of you who were ...

FPM Medals: Best Olympic-themed ad
Published 8/23/2008 by Maggie Hendricks at Fourth-Place Medal
There was some discussion at the FPM water cooler on which ad would receive this award. Wake up your weekend, get ready for what ever it is that makes your blood pump this Saturday morning with this jumpy little tune and another snippy little piece from Nike Politics, commercialism and everything else aside, they sure know how to put a sporting related montage together. The catchy song is "All These Things That I've Done" by the Killers. Jon Lester gets in on the act around the 51/52 second mark. .

That's cool that they got Ronaldo in there
