WNBA Brawl Video
Published 29 days ago by KC at Sports of Boston
The only connection to Boston I can make is that Bill Lambeer and especially Rick Mahorn played significant roles in this very unique WNBA Brawl. As you may remember, Lambeer and Mahorn played with the Bad Boy Detroit Pistons of the late 1980’s and took part in a couple exciting playoff series against the Celtics.
Mahorn, known as a peacemaker after his role in the worst brawl in sports history between the Pacers and Pistons in Detroit in 2004, pushed Lisa Leslie to the ground in order to keep the peace. Woah… ...

There was evidentially a fight in the WNBA last night, but it is hard to tell from the video above. Mainly because it looks like your typically WNBA action -- a bunch of young ladies falling all over themselves in a big scrum. How is this different from any other WNBA action? Of course, one of the young ladies had to be helped off the floor in a wheel chair. So you can't ball and you can't brawl, so what good are you? However, the best part was one of the Lakerettes going after Pistons assistant coach Rick Mahorn who was trying to play "peacemaker." Yes, he and Bill Lamebeer (sic) were known for being ...
Malice At The Palace Pt. II : Mahorn’s Incidental Contact With Lisa Leslie
Published 29 days ago by GC at Can't Stop The Bleeding
In the aftermath of the above melee, Detroit Shock assistant / overgrown Bad Boy Rick Mahorn protested to the Detroit Free Press’ Vince Ellis that he was merely trying to separate players. That seems reasonable enough, though I’d prefer to focus on the real tragedy of this ugly incident.
All that pushing and shoving and Kid Rock somehow wasn’t trampled to death? I think we can safely label this a blown opportunity for the WNBA.
Malice at the Palace Part 2: Girl Fight!

Let's see. A fight broke out during a basketball game in Detroit. Bill Laimbeer and Rick Mahorn were prominently involved. Mahorn got ejected. Yup, that sounds about ri...wait, what?! This happened during a WNBA game? You bet your vintage collection of Kobe Bryant Nutella it did. As Hubie Brown might say, things got a little "chippy" late in the game when the Detroit Shock's Cheryl Ford committed a hard foul on the Los Angeles Sparks' Candace Parker, after which the ladies had to be separated. This was clearly the first mistake, as grappling women should never be separated for any reason. Let them work out their ...
What to read while making a serious heel turn

The current Batman craze has inspired me to drop everything else and become completely evil. My only issue is that I don't really have an interesting back story laid out. Maybe somebody just looked at me the wrong way and at that moment it clicked that this was who I'm supposed to be. I don't know. We'll work on it.
Really not a whole lot going on out there, but here are a few items worth checking out.
Jody Demling and Jeff Goodman both weigh in with their takes on day one of AAU action in Las Vegas, but neither provides much fodder for U of L fans.
There's no link for it yet, but Peyton Siva's Seattle Rotary club won ...
YouTube of the Day: Detroit vs. LA, WNBA fight
Published 29 days ago by J.E. Skeets at Ball Don't Lie
The WNBA game between the LA Sparks and Detroit Shock got a little heated in the final five seconds last night. Sparks' stars Candace Parker and Lisa Leslie were involved in the melee with Cheryl Ford and bad boy coaches Rick Mahorn and Bill Laimbeer of the Detroit Shock. Here's the wild video: When all was said and done, three players were ejected from the game along with Mahorn. Ford was taken off the court in a wheelchair after sustaining a sprained knee in the female fracas. The WNBA: Expect Great.

Does this Effect Detroit’s Chances of Being Named Titletown, USA?

We got NEXT! And you know this!!! I’m sure you’re well aware why the WNBA is stealing a few headlines this week. Despite the knowledge of many, the league is still in existence, believe it or not. And it should come as no surprise that it took a damn near riot or in better terms a brawl, to shed a little publicity on the floundering league. One may think negative publicity is not what this league needs, but how can one argue with a glimpse of the limelight? ...
LA Sparks vs Detroit Shock: Now THIS is a Catfight
Published 27 days ago by houroc at SportFiends
So the other day I made a post about what I thought at the time was a pretty decent catfight between Danica Patrick and whatshername. That’s nothing compared to a fight that happened the other day in the WNBA though.
In a game between the Detroit Shock and the L.A. Sparks, an all out girl brawl broke out and it resulted in 10 players between both of the teams being suspended.
Here is the fight.
Ok so the fight wasn’t as good as other fights that we’ve seen in the MLB, the NHL, or even in Knicks/Heat games but it’s a pretty ...

Link-O-Rama Francisco Liriano turned in yet another dominant outing Tuesday at Triple-A, tossing seven shutout innings while striking out 10 and allowing just two hits. Liriano is now 9-0 with a 2.37 ERA and 81-to-12 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 64.2 innings spread over his last 10 starts. He's 5-0 with a 0.26 ERA over his last ...
Lions Now Preventing Fans From Shouting Sensible Comments to Occasionally-Lazy WRs

Detroit fans remain unruly:
Mike Lazzara, 42, of Novi, [Michigan] stood on the top step of the bleachers amid a sparse, mostly quiet crowd. He repeatedly shouted to Williams about taking plays off.
“I didn’t use any profanity to him,” Lazzara said. “I wanted just to be constructive and tell the guy, ‘You know, I’m not making $20 million a season.’ The guy takes plays off. You guys look at the tape.”
“There’s no signs that say you’ve got to stay positive,” Lazzara said. “I wasn’t yelling and screaming and using profanity and all this at Roy. I was just being constructive, and they boot me out. I ...
